Fire Emblem Challenge

This is only for pleasure and is not an official fire emblem challenge guide:

Basically there are five weapon challenges:
- Axe users only (AO)
- Sword users only (SO)
- Lance users only (LO)
- Archers only (BO)
- Attacking Magic users only (MO)

For these weapon based challenges, if possible follow the guidelines:

What these means is that:
  • Un-promoted units that can use weapons other than the chosen challenge weapon . i.e. cavaliers using swords and lances, are not allowed.
  • Pre-Promoted units are not allowed to be used if the can use weapons other than the chosen challenge weapon. i.e. paladins.
  • Normally promoted units CAN NOT use weapons from other types gained by promotion. i.e. Heroes can not use axes in a sword only game.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Other Challenges:
Special Challenges:

Three Musketeers/Twins United:
In FE7 or FE8 respectively, the use of the lords are the only units allowed to be used by the player. It is suggested that the challenge is completed without healers. This might cause problems due to health concerns but proper RNG abuse should solve these problems.

Females Only
Using only female units and the necessary lords except in FE8, beat the game (NO use of MALE healers but Male support of thieves allowed). Basic challenge.

Death by Tri-Attack!
Using only units that can tri-attack i.e. (FE6 - armored knights, in all games- pegasi) beat the game and healers and supports.

Unit Challenges:

These are referred to as SOLO challenges. Select any unit in any of the fire emblem games and attempt to finish the game with just that one unit and walls. (Note: Lords Only Challenge in FE6 is essentially a SOLO)

For instance:
In a Nino (FE7) SOLO challenge:
- all maps up to the chapter that Nino appears are fair game, and the player can do as he/she sees fit. As long as these rules fit the general rules. Once Nino appears on a map, the player should attempt to recruit her as quickly as possible and is then advised to level up that unit as quickly as possible. That map is the last map when other attacking units are allowed. Following, only walls, supports and lords should be selected.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some General Rules:
  • Lords must be used as they are forced in game. if they do not fit your challenge DO NOT use them, remove their items and have a pre-promoted unit rescue them and ONLY release them to seize thrones. Alternatively due to the sheer difficulty that this can create, if you can bear it, make them wall themselves up to level 20 and then promote them as you see fit. This makes the challenge easier, and those that perform the challenge by rescuing their lords will be seen as the better challenge completer.
  • The pre-promoted unit must not have any weapon on them if possible. Weapons on them must be traded or sold. Thus they cannot attack or act in self-defence. Obviously don't let them die either to your opponents as you lose the game.
  • Items can only be bought by units that fulfill the challenge requirements.
  • Healers can be used, such as clerics are allowed to be used as certain challenges would simply be impractical to complete. Note: healers that can only heal when promoted DO NOT break the rules unless the challenge is UP. (see UP)
  • Legendary weapons that are needed to reach extra stages SHOULD NOT be sold unless deemed necessary to do so. (only applies to FE6)
  • IF certain characters that do not fit the weapon-only criteria but are needed to recruit a member that is necessary to complete the challenge, then that member may be recruited and used ONLY on the maps that they are needed to. i.e. Lilina recruiting Alexander (This has been changed due to the tactic of walling. See Note 1)
  • Arena abuse IS NOT permitted. any instance of arena abuse means instant failure of a challenge.
  • No glitch abuse. i.e. no use of stone to get dark magic.
There are two different difficulty modes in FE6:
  • NM: Normal Mode
  • HM: Hard Mode
There are two different difficulty modes in FE7:
  • NM: Normal Mode
  • HM: Hard Mode
There are three different difficulty modes in FE8:
  • EM: Easy Mode
  • NM: Normal Mode
  • HM: Hard Mode
Optional Challenges that can be added:
  • NH: No healers. basically just rely on items to heal.
  • NLW: No legendary weapons.
  • NSB: No stat boosters. that includes items such as metis' tome. however does not apply to promotional items
  • IWO: Iron weapons only. (only applies to physical challenges) - to be tested, may need secret shops.
  • NDNB: No dancers/bards to give buffs. (should be used with NSB)
  • NMC: (no member's card), basically implies no use of the secret shop. some challenges might need the secret shop due to a lack of strength to simply kill units late in the game. should be used in conjuction with AO and LO.
  • NSS: No save states. pretty obvious. although some challenges would just be frustrating to complete with this rule.
  • NC: No ABC conversations.
  • UP: You can not promote your units and thus healers, walls and attackers can NOT promote using items. Only those units which are forced to promote such as Wallace and Roy in Normal Mode FE6 can promote. You can use these modes to your advantage, although it is advised to use the other modes if they do not cause this action.
NOTES
1. Walls: Units used as walls must not have any weapons on them but are allowed items such as the delphi shields, iron runes, vulneraries and elixirs can be used. The leveling of units designated as walls is completely reliant on the player and for certain challenges where losing a lord is simply not allowed, it is accepted that defensive plays are used to achieve abnormally high levels.
2. Supports: This refers to units such as thiefs and rogues which have abilities to heal. This does not refer to support conversations.
